Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Steward/Dishwasher/Utility Worker to join our team at Covenant House Texas. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving youth and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of dish room, floors, trash areas and storage spaces.
- Assist with basic food prep under supervision.
- Ensure proper sanitation and chemical usage.
- Organize and store clean equipment in designated areas.
- Support receiving and storage of deliveries.
- Remove trash throughout the shift.
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Communicate equipment or supply issues to the Chef/Manager.
Qualifications:
- Prior stewarding or utility experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic, reliability and ability to work as part of a team.
- Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain

About Covenant House Texas
Covenant House Texas (CHT) opened its doors in 1983 to provide shelter for homeless, abused and abandoned youth ages 18 – 24. After more than 35 years of service, CHT offers an extensive continuum of care model for homeless youth including mental health and substance abuse counseling, educational and vocational training, transitional and permanent living programs, street outreach and prevention, pastoral ministry and parenting classes in addition to providing the basic necessities of food, clothing, medical care and safe shelter from the streets for youth in crisis.
